This is a private Fantasy Football League

Since we are private, this site provides no value to anyone not involved in this league. Feel free to look around, but as a private league, we are closed to all but just the small circle of friends that have been franchise owners for the last several years.

A little history:

This league started out as many have, a few friends wanting to show off their inherent mastery and understanding of the abilities of NFL players and their teams. A friendly league of owners was formed to demonstrate these skills and provide braging rights, on a weekly basis, during the NFL season.

As for the WEB page, well this all started out as a bunch of files created by hand in 1983 when we started, printed out and mailed to the team owners. In 1990 I wrote an "offline" program to use the online stats provided by QuickStats (©) to remove most of the errors from doing the stats by hand from the newspaper. During this time the standings were created using a Lotus 123 spreadsheet.

In 1997, with the growing reach of the web and a desire to distribute the commissioner duties over more than one person, and inspired by Jeff's lineup page, I created this web site. With two of us doing the job, Jim was motivated to create the roster move page (since he was the Roster Move Manager). The common look and feel of most of these pages was borrowed from the NFL team stats page and then massaged by Microsoft's FrontPage '97. I also use my own programs to generate smilar format pages for the stats.

In 2002 I updated the web site to a more modern look and added content to help the owners (and because it was fun to do...). I no longer use any software (except my own) to generate the pages and have made them more dynamic in nature. More function will me incorporated as needed...

In 2004 Jim and I re-wrote the entire site in php. We added a draft system and automated all the weekly tasks using the files and information from the www.quickStats.com site. The very functional mySQL database was used to store all the information needed during the season. There are only a few more functions to add and we will probably do those in 2005 (Ed note: famous last words). SSL was implemented to protect user passwords and ensure each owners FFL information is kept secure.

In 2005-2007 functions were added to make as much information available on the site as possible and to aid in the draft. The additional draft pages were designed to make it both simple and quick during the actual draft each year. As it turns out, these changes laid the foundation for automating the draft (which was then planned for 2008). One reason for automating the draft is that many of the owners travel for their work and in some cases they are not available near an internet connection on their travels.

2008 - Draft automation completed. Several small or cosmetic changes were also implemented. Perhaps 2009 will be a year of no changes... nah... LOL

I am always looking for suggestions so please click on "Email to the Commissioner" and send me your suggestions.
